Spray tanning tips

Pre appointment

Remove old tan – We need to start with clean, fresh skin, so make sure to use a tan eraser to remove any remnants of old tan at least 2 days prior to your next spray tan.

Exfoliate – Use an exfoliant mitt the day prior to remove any dry skin, paying extra
attention to areas of the body that get particularly dry, elbows and knees we see you.

Bye-bye body hair - Removing any unwanted hair at least a day before your tan will give your pores time to close. This minimises any risk of tan getting trapped and appearing dotty on your skin. If you are waxing, this needs to be done at least 2 days before to give your skin time to heal. Waxing can cause micro-tears in the skin which will affect your tan.

Moisturise! - Dry skin = patchy tan. Make sure you moisturise your whole body in the days leading up to your tan, and after you exfoliate, for a radiant and natural tan that wears evenly. Pay extra attention to those dry areas such as the elbows, knees, hands & feet.

So fresh & so clean! - On the day of your tan please ensure your skin is completely free of all products including moisturiser, deodorant, makeup and perfume. These products have ingredients that will react with the tan and turn it GREEN or leave you with a patchy tan.

Spray tan fashion slay - We recommend coming to your appoitnment with loose fitting, dark clothing (or your favourite baggy lounge wear or flowy dress), and slip on shoes such as sandals or thongs. Wearing tight fitted clothes or a bra after your tan will cause rub marks and creasing, and you don’t want that!

Post appointment

So, you’ve just had your tan in studio, here is a reminder about what to do next!
Now that you’ve let the spray tan sit for the desired time, jump in the shower to rinse off the bronzer (just water, no soaps!). Make sure the water isn’t piping hot as this can dry out the skin and affect your tan.

Be sure to thoroughly remove all the bronzer using your hands to gently rub the skin. Not removing all the bronzer can cause the tan to over develop in these areas leading to an uneven tan. Underarms & legs are the usual culprits in this instance. If your tan looks like it has streaks once you get out of the shower, jump back into the shower for an extra minute to ensure the bronzer is completely rinsed off.

After your first shower, dry yourself gently and avoid using other products on your skin until after the second shower. If your skin is particularly dry, you can use a fragrance-free and alcohol-free moisturizer after the first shower.

Moisturize! To maintain your glowing, even tan for as long as possible, keep your skin moisturized every day to make sure the tan wears away evenly over time. We always recommend to use a fragrance-free and alcohol-free moisturizer.
